What the scores mean
Primary source / Major outlet / General press / Unverified is a
mechanical classification of what kind of source an item came from, not a judgment of
whether the article itself is correct. Trial registries, papers, regulators and company
announcements rank highest; wire services and major newspapers come next; aggregator portals
rank lowest.
▲n outlets counts how many other outlets covered the same
story within 7 days (matched by overlapping words in the headlines). It is not the
article's view count. There is no way to measure views on external articles, so
simultaneous coverage across outlets is used as a proxy for attention.
